CleanTech Alliance Annual Meeting | November 10, 2016 | Seattle, WA

The CleanTech Alliance Annual Meeting is Washington State’s largest gathering of cleantech industry leaders, gathering more than 300 business executives, investors and policymakers along with multiple international delegations. The annual breakfast event offers an ideal opportunity to network and share ideas with the industry’s most prominent movers and shakers.

CleanTech Past, Present & Future

In 2016, the CleanTech Alliance Annual Meeting program set the stage for the CleanTech Alliance 10th anniversary celebration. Since 2007, the Alliance has developed the Pacific Northwest’s cleantech economy under outstanding leadership from its Board of Directors. For anyone counting, that’s 10 years of successfully facilitating the generation and growth of nearly 300 cleantech companies and more than 87,500 direct cleantech jobs.

But, what lies ahead over the next decade? The 2016 CleanTech Alliance Annual Meeting asked a distinguished executive panel that very question. Moderated by Kirk Washington, the panel featured CleanTech Alliance Board Chairs from the past 10 years, including:

Doosan GridTech (formerly 1Energy Systems) is playing a leading role in the rapidly expanding energy storage industry. The company is helping our electricity system decarbonize while raising the region’s profile and creating high-paying jobs. In its short history, Doosan GridTech has successfully delivered complex, state-of-the-art energy storage projects across the country and founded MESA – an open-standards effort for energy storage. GreenTech Media honored Doosan GridTech in 2016 with a Grid Edge Award as one of the top 20 companies "making change on the cutting edge of distribution energy and grid integration."

renewable energy trade shows

McKinstry continuously looks for new ways to innovate the clean technology landscape. In the past 50 years, the company has transformed how buildings are designed, built, operated and maintained for optimal energy efficiency and occupant health. One example is the recent partnership with Clise Properties and Amazon, the nation’s largest-scale heat recovery systems to cross property lines. This partnership, dubbed the “EcoDistrict,” transfers data center waste heat to offset 75 percent of the heat needed by Amazon’s new corporate headquarters across the street.

Clean Energy Fund

The Washington State Legislature passed a $36 million Clean Energy Fund in 2013 to expand clean energy research and deployment statewide. That investment attracted an additional $60.5 million in outside funding to Washington State research institutions, universities, business and homeowners. Deemed successful, the Legislature extended the Clean Energy Fund in 2015 with an additional $40 million investment to expand the program’s grid modernization, research and job creation efforts. The Clean Energy Fund is administered by the Washington State Department of Commerce.
