Reeves Clippard of A&R Solar, Virginia Emery of Beta Hatch and Jimmy Jia of Distributed Energy Management Named Finalists for Individual Vision Awards.

CleanTech Alliance named Impact Bioenergy, Omnidian and the Washington Clean Energy Testbeds as finalists for the 2017 CleanTech Vision Award. Reeves Clippard of A&R Solar, Virginia Emery of Beta Hatch and Jimmy Jia of Distributed Energy Management were named finalists for the individual CleanTech Vision Award. Winners will be announced at the CleanTech Alliance Annual Meeting and 10th Anniversary Celebration on November 8 in Seattle.

New for 2017, the CleanTech Vision Award program, sponsored by Seattle City Light, recognizes an organization and an individual that champions innovation that will forever change clean technology in our region, country and world. CleanTech Alliance members nominate deserving organizations each year. An independent panel of judges then evaluates each nomination before selecting the three finalists and one winner.

CleanTech Vision Finalists | Organization Award

  • Impact Bioenergy’s distributed bioenergy solutions generate energy from adjacent organic waste streams. The company’s prefabricated bioenergy units allow organizations and communities to practice onsite bioenergy food waste diversion, thus substantially reducing costs and generating a faster ROI than wind or solar.

  • Omnidian protects and accelerates capital invested in the residential solar industry through proprietary technology that provides continuous monitoring for residential solar systems and large-scale residential portfolios. The company offers the industry’s only end-to-end performance guarantee, including service alerts and field service for the life of the system.

  • Washington Clean Energy Testbeds provide an open access center for accelerating clean energy adoption by providing R&D resources to scale innovations into impactful products. The facility includes world-class technology validation, manufacturing and prototyping equipment supported by fulltime scientific and engineering staff.

CleanTech Vision Finalists | Individual Award

  • Reeves Clippard co-founded A&R Solar to become a thriving business that treats customers and employees well. As CEO, he oversees a growing staff of almost 60 while giving back to the cleantech industry at large. He actively champions solar jobs creation and legislation and works with electrical utilities to help grow the amount of energy sourced from renewables.

  • Virginia Emery is single handedly building an insect-as-protein industry in the Northwest region. Through Beta Hatch, she commercialized insects as high protein animal food and soil products that are efficient enough to change the way our food system grows animals. Insects are one of the greatest untapped resources for building more clean and robust food systems.

  • Jimmy Jia of Distributed Energy Management is an entrepreneur, innovator and author who enjoys solving large systems problems. He developed and proposed the Chief Utility Officer role via the Harvard Business Review to improve organizational competitive advantages by consolidating the utility line-item across operational and capital budgets.

Find out who wins in each category at the CleanTech Alliance Annual Meeting on November 8 in Seattle. The event convenes more than 400 business executives, investors, media and policymakers to celebrate the CleanTech Alliance’s 10th Anniversary while looking ahead to The Next 10. The CleanTech Vision Award program is sponsored by Seattle City Light.
