Jimmy Jia, Distributed Energy Management

Jimmy Jia is an innovator, author, educator, and strategist.  He is on the board for the Center for Sustainable Energy and chairs the Strategy Committee. His expertise is using energy as an indicator of corporate strategy and governance, resulting in corporations reducing wasted expenditures by “right sizing” their consumption. In acting as a “Chief Utility Officer” for companies, he helps CFOs manage the life-cycle costs of their utility line-item to save money, reduce exposure to volatile pricing, and improve profitability and competitive advantage.

He is a Visiting Scholar at George Washington University and also teaches both Strategy and the Sustainable Energy Solutions Certificate at Presidio Graduate School, helping MBA students understand the impact of energy systems on societal outcomes.  By examining user demands, MBA students learn how societal issues influence the energy infrastructure decision-making process.  His book on the topic, Driven by Demand: How Energy Gets its Power has been sold in over 15 countries.

Jimmy received his BS and MS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Oxford. He holds 5 patents, authored numerous publications, and is a frequent speaker on topics of energy futurism and leadership.
