Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Wins $89 Million

Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Project announced that the US Department of Energy had authorized the release of $89 million in stimulus funding which will be combined with another $89 million in matching funds to move ahead with a 5-year project to expand existing electric infrastructure and test new devices, software, and analytical tools at home and on the grid in 12 Pacific Northwest communities.  The project is a collaboration between Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, BPA, the UW, 5 technology partners, and 11 utilities across WA, OR, ID, MT, and WY.
