The Bullitt Foundation has received a key city permit for a 6-story office building designed to be Seattle’s greenest building. The foundation has proposed the pioneering “living building,” at 15th and E Madison. The Cascadia Center for Sustainable Design and Construction would generate as much power as it consumes and rely almost exclusively on rain that falls on its roof for water. The building can be up to 10 ft taller than the zoning code ordinarily permits as the extra height is needed to allow more daylight and reduce energy. Building permits still must be obtained. Construction could start in May or June.
