10:30am Cyan Breakout Room Recap – Innovative EV charging Approach to Optimize Clean Energy Infrastructure – ChargePoly
On Friday, June 14th, Kelly Desy and Aaron Freise from ChargePoly presented at the 2024 CleanTech Innovation Showcase about optimizing infrastructure for EV charging.
- The rise of medium and heavy-duty fleets means that energy demand will grow.
- ChargePoly’s EV chargers are at the nexus of supply and demand. The chargers are intelligent, interoperable, efficient, and reliable.
- ChargePoly’s daisy-chain design allows for scalability.
- Their approach optimizes an EV fleet’s TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

11:00am Cyan Breakout Room Recap – Communities + Renewable Power: How to Ensure a Winning Combination – BrightNight
Maribeth Sawchuk from BrightNight presented at the 2024 CleanTech Innovation Showcase about managing intermittent renewable energy in a rapidly changing grid.
- BrightNight designs, develops, and operates safe, reliable, large-scale renewable power projects optimized to manage the intermittent nature of renewable energy better and overcome challenging energy sustainability standards, rapidly changing grid dynamics, and the transition away from fossil fuel generation.
- Many US states are mandating more renewable energy, but many communities are opposed to large solar or wind farms in their communities.
- Common community concerns include responsible siting, fear of a ‘new’ technology, environmental impact, and no local benefit.
- Community leaders can change the trend of opposition.
- Need more trusted sources of information.
- Demand more from your renewable power partners.
- Foster renewable power champions.

11:30am Cyan Breakout Room Recap – The Grid is the Platform for Our Energy Future – Seattle City Light
David Logsdon from Seattle City Light presented at the 2024 CleanTech Innovation Showcase about Seattle’s path to an expanded, electrified grid.
- Seattle City Light’s current resource mix is 88% hydro, 5% wind, 4% nuclear, 2% unspecified, and 1% biogas.
- The City of Seattle’s emissions are dominated by transportation and buildings (37% building energy, 60% road transportation, 2% waste).
- Transportation electrification is accelerating with consumer demand growing.
- Seattle City Light is ensuring heat pumps move into the mainstream.
- Electrification means sustained growth.
- Electrification partnerships and intentional investments can help reduce the disproportionate health, climate, and economic harm experienced by Seattle’s environmental justice communities while building a more equitable future where everyone can thrive.
