Amelia M. Gerlicher, Partner, Perkins Coie LLP

Amelia Gerlicher counsels clients in the areas of incident response, data security compliance, and online platform user protection and enforcement. Clients ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies rely on Amelia to advise on incidents of all kinds, assess risks, develop response strategies, improve compliance with legal obligations, and address regulatory and litigation fallout. Her deep knowledge of legal requirements and expectations supports efficient and nuanced advice for clients across a variety of industries.

Amelia also advises clients on how to prepare for an incident, improve security governance, and comply with the increasingly complex web of legal requirements applicable to data security and personal information. She also represents clients such as Meta, defending against illegal spamming, scraping, data misuse, harassment, and other forms of malicious behavior that interfere with client websites. Amelia’s active pro bono practice has included helping a nonprofit develop resources to educate victims of nonconsensual pornography on their legal options, representing immigrants seeking asylum before the immigration court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and serving as class-action counsel for 30,000 Arizona prisoners seeking constitutional medical care and conditions of confinement.

Kevin Johnston is a seasoned information security professional with extensive experience in managing and safeguarding digital assets. As Senior Manager, Information Security at the Snohomish County Public Utility District (PUD) , Kevin has been instrumental in developing and implementing robust security protocols to protect critical information and operational technologies. His expertise spans across various domains, including security operations, risk management, regulatory compliance, and incident response. Kevin is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and holds a Master of Science in Network Operations and a Master of Arts in Public Administration.

Kelly Fukai, C.M, M.B.A, Chief Executive Officer, Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA)

Washington Technology Industry Association, a nonprofit organization made up of 1,000 technology companies statewide, has promoted Kelly Fukai to CEO.

Fukai was previously the organization’s chief operating officer and vice president of government and community affairs.

An accountant by profession, her foray into the tech sector first began at Washington Water Power Co., now Avista Corp., where Fukai held various positions in corporate accounting. She first began working with policy in regulation when, as a natural gas analyst, she generated the long-term demand forecast for natural gas, among other duties. After her 16-year tenure with Avista, Fukai took on other roles related to policy and communications, including the government affairs manager for Pullman-based Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, and manager of public and external affairs for Spokane International Airport.

WTIA is a membership trade organization that focuses on fostering an equity-centered technology sector. The organization works on public policy and advocacy and engages with local, state, and federal officials on ways to advance the sector by supporting  employees and businesses growth and retention in Washington state.
