WWU's Greg O’Neil Awarded $430,000 Grant from the NSF

Greg O’Neil, a faculty member at Western Washington University, was awarded a grant to integrate algal biofuels teaching and research.  He developed and taught a biofuels class as part of the curricular development for the new Institute for Energy Studies, which was part of his successful grant application to the National Science Foundation.

“This is one of the most prestigious awards young faculty members can receive; it’s unique in that not only does it support outstanding research but also combines an educational component, which is the integration of renewable energy topics into Western’s Chemistry curriculum and the university’s own energy initiatives,”Professor O’Neil said.
