The Department of Commerce will soon convene two advisory panels as established in the second Clean Energy Fund legislation passed in 2015. The new Clean Energy Fund II panels are:
- Electric Utility Panel: $13 million is available to state electric utilities in Clean Energy Fund II. This panel will advise the Department of Commerce on the design of the funding program as well as long term goals.
- Clean Energy Research, Development and Demonstration (RD&D) Panel: This panel will advise the Department on how to structure the program for awarding $10 million designated for clean energy research projects.
Initial meetings of both advisory panels are being scheduled for September in the Seattle area. The meetings are open. The public and interested stakeholders will be invited to attend and participate in the discussions around the design of these Clean Energy Fund II programs.

The Washington State Clean Energy Fund enables a mix of projects administered by the State Energy Office in the Department of Commerce. Funding will support development, demonstration and deployment of clean energy technologies that save energy and reduce energy costs, reduce harmful air emissions, or otherwise increase energy independence for the state.
