Seattle Ranks 14th in US for Energy-Efficient Square Footage

Seattle ranks 14th in the nation for the number of energy-efficient sqf in town and 13th in cost savings.  The EPA announced the list of metropolitan areas with the greatest number of buildings that have earned “Energy Star” certification in 2010.

Seattle ranked 16th in the number of buildings.  LA had 510 “Energy Star” buildings in 2010, followed by DC with 301, San Francisco with 248, Chicago with 232, and NYC with 211.  Seattle had 105 comprising 26M sqf in 2010.  In number of buildings, Seattle ranked 10th in 2008 and 14th in 2009.  (From Puget Sound Business Journal and EPA sources)
