Source: Katherine Long, Seattle Times. Michael Young, the new UW president, sat down with Seattle City Council Tuesday to discuss a wide range of ideas. One idea is an “innovation district” within Seattle’s U-district that would nurture new businesses by allowing the use of UW laboratories and equipment, but would not be located on campus itself. Mixed-use areas for living and working would also be provided. Both the City and UW have had several casual conversations about how the U-district will be redeveloped after light rail stations open near Husky Stadium and on Brooklyn Ave. NE.
