CleanTech Alliance is Hiring: Be Our Business Development Manager

Want to help grow the Pacific Northwest cleantech
economy? CleanTech Alliance seeks an experienced business development
professional to lead membership and sponsorship development.


 


The Business Development Manager is responsible for
developing and retaining membership and sponsorship, and managing membership database
systems. This position reports to the President & CEO and collaborates with
staff and members of the Board of Directors to ensure alignment between membership,
programs and services.
 



Responsibilities:


Specific membership
development duties include:


  • Serve as a primary point of contact for CleanTech
    Alliance members, helping each understand the benefits of membership and what
    programs and services are available to help them grow
  • Lead member recruitment by identifying potential new
    members and setting appointments to introduce the Alliance and its value
  • Identifying, qualifying and the sale of
    business/organization-based memberships through a combination of networking,
    cold calling and industry research
  • Lead member retention through campaign-based renewal
    outreach and processes
  • Collaborate with Board and staff to develop clear value
    propositions for membership, and to create collateral that articulates that
    value proposition effectively
  • Work with other CleanTech Alliance staff to develop
    programs, events and annual communication strategies for membership engagement
    and growth
  • Develop new membership and sponsorship packages based on
    member needs
  • Lead monthly Membership Committee meeting in coordination
    with the committee chairs
  • Represent the CleanTech Alliance at industry events in
    pursuit of new members and organization brand development










 


Specific sponsorship
development duties include:


  • Develop and sell program and event sponsorship opportunities
    to existing and new members
  • Work with the CleanTech Alliance CEO to develop and
    manage sponsorship goals, targets, outreach strategies and reports
  • Develop annual sponsorship prospectus to outline available
    sponsorship packages and secure new and renewing sponsors
  • Ensure the fulfillment and satisfaction of each
    sponsorship contract
  • Capture and report out all sponsorship activities,
    preparing regular reports to the CleanTech Alliance CEO, Executive Committee
    and Board of Directors
  • Promote, attend and staff CleanTech Alliance events
  • Responsible for CleanTech Alliance presence at industry
    events and conferences








 


Specific database management
duties include:


  • Manage and maintain all member records, invoices and
    payments received
  • Manage and maintain a strong cycle of membership and
    sponsorship leads via the internal CleanTech Alliance CRM system
  • Capture and report out all membership and sponsorship activities,
    preparing regular reports to the CleanTech Alliance CEO, Executive Committee
    and Board of Directors
  • Maintain detailed project records on sponsorship program
    progress and outcomes
  • Other projects and duties as assigned






 


Qualifications:


  • Preferred five years of experience in business
    development and/or fundraising with a strong customer service ethic
  • Experience creating outreach and engagement strategies,
    and a proven track record of interaction with business leaders and
    entrepreneurs
  • Sales proficiency and strong written, verbal and interpersonal
    communication skills
  • Proficiency with CRM systems with experience in lead
    tracking and sales growth
  • Ability to work on web-based applications for business
    development research
  • Knowledge of and established relationships within the
    Pacific Northwest cleantech community preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Some travel required, mostly throughout Washington State.
    Valid driver’s license required










 


Compensation & Benefits:


  • Base salary plus commission dependent upon qualifications
    and experience
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, parental leave and holidays
  • Time off while the office is closed between December 25
    and January 1
