The US Department of Energy has launched a new demonstration center for advanced nuclear technologies, the National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC). NRIC will be led by Idaho National Laboratory and build upon the successes of DOE’s Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear (GAIN) initiative. Earlier, DOE published a Notice of Intent in the Federal Register announcing that the agency will develop an Environmental Impact Statement to examine building a Versatile Test Reactor in the United States.
