In the Milken Institute’s 2011 State Technology and Science Index, Washington is ranked sixth in the US. Each state was graded on 80 indicators. The top states tended to be research hubs, industry clusters, or states that had “low-tax and regulation policies” that attract tech businesses. WA state was ranked fifth in the 2008 study.
