Environmental Design Research Association Call for Oral and Poster Presentations

2012 Conference Explores Emergent Placemaking

The Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) invites submissions for its 43rd Annual Conference, EDRA43Seattle, to be held May 30-June 2, 2012 at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel in Seattle, Washington.  The Call for Proposals may be found at www.edra.org/edra43seattle.

The theme of this year’s conference, Emergent Placemaking, speaks to both potentiality and continuity. It captures the value of innovation and creativity in tackling the pressing issues of our time. It advocates for the formation of new, dynamic approaches to understanding and fostering healthy communities. It accepts controversy, embraces diversity, advocates creative problem solving and crosses boundaries.

The submission deadline for papers, abstracts, symposia, working groups and workshops is September 23, 2011. The submission deadline for display poster presentations is December 2, 2011.

EDRA’s annual conferences are renowned international events that focus on research and design presentations in a variety of formats. The sessions provide students, researchers and practitioners alike the opportunity to participate in a collaborative discourse while receiving continuing education credits from a variety of accrediting organizations. More than 500 architects, urban planners, designers, social ecologists, urban anthropologists, researchers, consultants, academics and students from around the world are expected to attend EDRA43Seattle.
