LaserMotive, a 2010 Cleantech Open semifinalist based in Seattle, announced that it is a participant in the new NASA Ride the Light project that is developing external power sources for future spaceflight vehicles. “The technologies pursued in this effort have the potential to revolutionize both space launch and on orbit operations, we are happy to be working with LaserMotive and all of our partners to make power beaming a reality,” said NASA’s Charles Taylor.
LaserMotive is developing laser power beaming systems to transmit electricity without wires, for applications where wires are either cost prohibitive or physically impractical.
