About:  GLOBE 2012 will be the 12th event in one of the world’s largest and longest-running event series dedicated to business and the environment. Every two years, the world gathers in Vancouver for three days of thought-leading sessions presented by world-renowned sustainability experts, for the opportunity to see leading-edge environmental innovations, and to participate in unparalleled global networking opportunities.

Business leaders, corporate executives, NGOs, and government policymakers from around the world will meet inVancouver, March 14-16, 2012 to explore corporate sustainability and competitiveness, clean energy, climate change, sustainability in finance, and greener cities. A number of special sessions will also be offered addressing water, global emissions management, and greening the retail sector.

Dates: March 14-15, 2012

Times (approximate): Leave Seattle around 7:30 am on March 14; arrive at the hotel in Vancouver around 11:00 am. The conference and trade show are at the Convention Center, a short walk from the hotel. Leave Vancouver from the hotel around 1:00 pm on March 15; arrive Seattle around 4:00 pm.  Passports or other valid travel documentation are required for travel to Canada.  In 2010, we used the Northgate Park’n’Ride parking lot as a point of departure. That worked pretty well, and we will consider doing the same this year.

Trade Show: We will provide free admission to the Trade Show.  There will be many exhibitors.

Please note: we are not providing free admission to the conference.  Conference attendance for individuals is $1,295. If enough people are interested we will try to arrange a group discount.

Hotel: once again we have negotiated a discounted rate at the Hyatt Regency Hotel ($159 per night, plus tax). You must make your own reservations at the hotel.  Phone: 1-800-233-1234. To get the discount, mention the enterpriseSeattle group. A block of rooms will be held until Feb. 21. Make reservations early, as the hotel will probably fill quickly.

Bus trip: enterpriseSeattle and the Canadian Consulate will sponsor the bus trip to and from Vancouver. We will provide coffee and pastries for the trip to Vancouver; beer, soda, and snacks for the trip home.

In 2010 we had a number of last-minute cancellations. To avoid this, we are asking that you secure your seat with a check for $20, made out to enterpriseSeattle. If you change your mind and can’t go, your check will be returned, if we can find a substitute.

We are working to arrange either an evening reception or a breakfast with a speaker, for networking with companies from BC and other Canadian provinces. We can also arrange one-on-one meetings with local firms.
