A Shift in American Energy Politics

The New York Times has released an article outlining the new position of the American energy supply.  Our nation has come a long way since 2008, when importing oil appeared to be the only option.  The article suggests that the current American drift toward energy independence is due to new technologies in renewable energy, auto fuel efficiency, shale gas production, and tight oil extraction.

The latest stance on energy is evident in Washington.  President Obama consistently calls for “clean, renewable energy” and an “all-out, all-of-the-above strategy that develops every available source of energy.”  The job creation from such efforts is at the top of the country’s to-do list.

This new reality of American energy calls for a new mindset towards energy needs and a way to continue towards energy independence in an ecologically sustainable way.
