July 11, 2014 (Seattle, WA) – In support of the President’s Climate Action Plan, the U.S. Department of Energy is making up to $4 billion in loan guarantees available for innovative renewable energy and energy efficiency projects that avoid, reduce, or sequester greenhouse gasses.
The Renewable Energy and Efficient Energy Projects Loan Guarantee Solicitation is intended to support technologies that are catalytic, replicable and market-ready. You can view the sample list of potential technologies up for consideration through this link; however, the Department identified five key technology areas of interest:
- Advanced Grid Integration and Storage
- Drop-in Biofuels
- Waste-to-Energy
- Enhancement of Micro-Hydro or Hydro Facilities
- Efficiency Improvements
With this announcement, DOE’s Loan Programs Office is now accepting applications in three areas, which also include:
- Advanced Fossil Energy Projects–$8 billion
- Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing–$16 billion
