Yaletown Venture Partners was identified as Canada’s most active private independent VC for 2014 in Thomson Reuters’ independent annual review of Canada’s Venture Capital Market. Yaletown also held the top most active ranking in 2013.
The report explains that venture capital investment in Canadian startups reached a twelve-year high in 2014 with over $2.3 billion invested in 522 deals, according to data released by Thomson Reuters. This reflected a 21 percent increase over 2013 and the most active year in the domestic market since 2002. On the other hand, Canadian venture capital fundraising fell by 15 percent in 2014.
“Yaletown is proud to be a major technology investor in Canada and we appreciate the valuable research done by Thomson Reuters,” commented Mike Satterfield, Partner, Yaletown Venture Partners. “Twenty-fourteen was a very active year for us and our portfolio companies. Their performance demonstrates the opportunity of investing in emerging growth companies with early revenues, strong leadership and strong products.”
