On March 8, 2023, City Light filed the Updated Study Report (USR) with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Completion of the studies included in the USR is a key milestone in the relicensing process for the Skagit Hydroelectric Project. City Light worked collaboratively with Indian Tribes and First Nations, federal and state resource agencies, FERC staff and other licensing participants to design and implement these studies.
The USR represents a significant body of work across a wide range of topics that cover an extensive geographic area. Going forward, the studies reported on in the USR will support decision making at an ecosystem-scale regarding the operation of the hydroelectric project and associated environmental measures. This science will also inform the development of a long-term monitoring program.
The USR can be downloaded from City Light’s Relicensing the Skagit River Hydroelectric Project web page. More information about the Skagit Project, key milestones in the relicensing process, and links to previous documents are also available on the web site. Relicensing documents filed with FERC are available from FERC’s eLibrary under docket number P-553.
City Light welcomes your participation in the relicensing of the Skagit River Project. For information about how to participate or join our email list, please contact the project team via email at SCL_SkagitRelicensing@Seattle.gov.
