Ernst & Young released a report analyzing 143 companies who are involved in the EV charging infrastructure scene. Through this study, five potential business strategy variants were identified and assessed the risk/reward of each. These variants are as follows:
- The builder—supplier of charging infrastructure hardware
- The maintenance-installer—installation and maintenance services to charging network owners
- The broker-operator—manager of the charging infrastructure on behalf of potential network owners
- The gridmaster—agent that integrates smart grid solution for utilities with charging infrastructure management
- The guardian—provider of infrastructure management and support of EV manufacturers and support
